All the advice I have freely given to you all via this blog over the last months about adoption…
It’s JUST advice!
I just experienced it again over the last three weeks and most of the things I have shared fell worthless because One Thing I’ve Learned…
Adoption is a commitment no matter the situation and no one can help you through it except God.
Not your guide!
Not positive thoughts!
Giving it away each moment and realizing one moment is all you have.
We landed in Nanning, China on a Sunday (after 32 hours of travel and 2 six year olds) with about 24 hours to get our barings of where we were, what we needed (sleep), and be ready to get our new child. I’m trying to remember that far back but I think we found a Pizza Hut and ate Hawaiian pizza (China style). We could barely stay awake until 6:30 and crashed. We had a fitful night’s sleep and couldn’t wait for the breakfast buffet waiting on us!
Today was CallaAnne Day and we could hardly wrap our minds around it. Our guide picked us about 2:30 and we left for the civil affairs building where our love was already waiting for us~
She was a bubbly, giggly little love who obviously knew us because she walked out of the playroom, right up to Scott, and held her arms up to him. He scooped her into his arms and right then and there, she was our baby forever! We signed a few papers and made our way back to the hotel to get to know her. She did very well until it was time for bed. We learned quickly a bath and letting her sisters do something first was key in her comfort. We all went to sleep pretty early that first night from sheer exhaustion but the good kind!!!
I plan to share more of our journey to Calla over the next weeks so please follow along and feel free to ask any questions you might have. It has been a beautiful, broken, and redemptive journey… one I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Thank You Jesus for this amazing calling.
